Rocket Redux
Eddie Redeems Evel
By Dakota Keiser
Before I could even think, I was reading the five count,” Scott Truax told me. “I said, ‘See you on the other side. Five . . . four . . . three . . . two . . . one.’
“He didn’t hesitate a second—boom, he was gone. I saw that gorgeous main chute deploy and he came down. I went to the other side to see if he was alive and there he was, smiling.”
Scott, the engineer and builder of the rocket Evel Spirit, is the son of Robert Truax, who designed and built the rocket that the legendary Evel Knievel unsuccessfully launched over the Snake River Canyon forty-two years ago.
