About Elizabeth McGowan

Elizabeth McGowan grew up in Philadelphia and was diagnosed with melanoma in the 1980s. A journalism graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia, she has won numerous writing and reporting awards, including the Pulitzer. A woman with an urge to heal and a yen for endless adventures, she works as a freelance environmental reporter in Washington D.C., where she lives with her husband Don.
